Peanut butter

We all know it’s super yummy, but don’t forget that it’s healthy too. We've got ideas on how else to enjoy it.

1 Give yourself a boost
Make an open-faced sandwich for an energy-packed breakfast—perfect for when you’re on the go. Take a slice of lightly toasted bread and spread some peanut butter over it. Slice a third of a banana into slivers and scatter them over the slice of bread. Sprinkle with just a bit of sugar or honey for a touch of sweet. Another indulgent idea: Replace the sugar or honey with chocolate spread.

2 Real treat:
A stack of s’mores Spread a pat of peanut butter on a graham cracker then add a piece of chocolate and a marshmallow. Pop the treat in the microwave for three seconds. Remove from the microwave and top the treat with another graham cracker. Gobble away!

3 Classic sandwich idea
Take 2 slices of white bread; spread peanut butter on 1 slice and jelly on the other. Bring both slices together and cut into quarters. Dip each piece into prepared french toast batter and fry in a pan with a pat of butter. Yum!

4 Blend it:
Crazy Nutty Monkey Smoothie In a blender, throw in 1 ripe banana, 2 tablespoons sweetened peanut butter, 1/8 cup milk, and 2 tablespoons condensed milk. Blend until smooth. Add 1 cup shaved ice and blend again until completely smooth. Add some chocolate for an even more sinful indulgence!

5 Add it to kare-kare
Add about 1/4 cup peanut butter to your favorite kare-kare recipe and we promise you won’t want to make it any other way again. Opt for chunky peanut butter if you’d like to add more texture to the dish.

6 Whip up peanut butter pancakes
Put a twist into your pancakes by adding about 1/3 cup peanut butter to the pancake batter. Don’t mix it too well of you prefer more PB chunks in your pancakes.

7 Make it:
Malaysian chicken satay sauce In a bowl, mix 1/4 cup each peanut butter and water, 1 tablespoon each lemon juice, soy sauce, grated ginger, and brown sugar. Skewer chicken tenders, brush with oil, and lightly season with salt and pepper; grill. Serve with sauce.

8 Match it with fruits
We think that peanuts and fruit go well together. Top your next fresh fruit cup with this stuff. Blend 1/3 cup strawberry preserves, 1/4 cup peanut butter, and plain yogurt. Enjoy!

9 Turn it into an instant dip
Peanut butter is fairly versatile when it comes to food pairings. Why not use it as a dip for fresh fruits? Try it with apples or pears. It can even work with the dried versions, like banana chips. Feeling adventurous? Try it with veggie sticks like celery and carrots.

10 Pop goes the PB
In a small saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter or margarine with about 5 tablespoons smooth peanut butter. Mix together until they are well incorporated. Pour mixture over a large bowl of plain popcorn. Add sugar to sweeten the sauce or sprinkle some salt for a savory twist.
