Ten Pinoy Dishes to Master

Make the country proud by mastering any of these ten Filipino recipes.

You can roll a perfect sushi. You know the exact moment your pasta is al dente. You can whip up a beurre blanc sauce with your eyes closed. But can you proudly say you have perfected any home-style pinoy entrees?

Our food is part of our cultural identity,  and something worth sharing with the world. Make the country proud by mastering a Filipino dish. Here are ten recipes you can start working on.

This Ilokano vegetable dish is flavored with bagoong. Take extra care not to overcook the vegetables as it is best when they still have some crunch. Here's the recipe for Bulanglang
Another vegetable dish popular with the Ilocanos. This time, sweetened with coconut milk. If you're not a fan of saluyot's slimy texture, do not overcook the leaves. Here's the recipe for Guinataang Saluyot Leaves with Labong
Tinola gets a fruity twist with the addition of watermelon. Great for summer when watermelon is in season. See the recipe: Tinolang Manok at Pakwan.
Fantastic entree when paired with a big bowl of steamed rice. The addition of coconut milk gives this recipe a Bicolano twist. For the recipe: Pork Binagoongan sa Gata
A sure crowd-pleaser on family get-togethers. Our recipe for sour and succulent Sinigang na Sugpo takes only 10 minutes. Give it a try!
It's simple yet so good. Great as lunch. Perfect for baon. Always bring garlicky vinegar dipping sauce with you. Here's the recipe for Smoked Bangus Lumpia
This breakfast favorite goes very well with rice and eggs. Now you can make it at home using our recipe: Tocino
This Filipino style meatloaf is great anytime of the day. Best of all, you can make Embutido in advance so you can stock up. It even makes for a great food gift. Here's our Embutido recipe.
This dish makes for good ulam and pulutan. We have an heirloom recipe worth trying: Kalderetang Kambing
A sure-hit at home as you can suit the dish to your family's tastebuds. Some like it tart. Some want it sweet. While others want it redolent with onions. Here's the recipe: Beef Steak Tagalog
