Banana is a fruit that has about 500 different varieties. We are most familiar with ripe bananas with yellow peel and cream-colored fruits whose taste may range from mild to sweet. This long, slender, slightly curved fruits are native to warm, tropical countries.

Why is it considered and aphrodisiac?
One of the most popular and easily accessible fruits any time of the year at almost any place in the world, bananas are also one of the most nutrition-packed fruits that has a lot of healthful benefits.

Bananas are rich in Vitamin B and potassium, and these two are necessary in the production of sex hormone. The sugar in bananas is easily digested by the body, thus it is a good source of instant energy boost for those times when you are feeling weak and fatigued. With a good amount of iron, banana also stimulates the production of hemoglobin in the blood.

Bananas can be enjoyed in a hundred different ways. One way is to put it in the freezer for a few minutes and then dip it in melted chocolate.

Because of its shape, banana is often alluded to as male sex organ and often mentioned in jokes—and even songs!—with sexual innuendo. Perhaps this could also be a reason why it is included in lists of aphrodisiac foods.

Buying and storing
If you’re eating it raw, choose bananas that are quite firm to the touch, not too soft. Buy those that are still attached to one bunch or piling. While brown spots on the skin is a discouraging sign in other fruits, brown spots on the peel of bananas is a sign of ripeness. But these spots should be a light shade of brown and not too dark that it’s almost black.

To prevent peeled and sliced bananas from turning brown, sprinkle a small amount of lemon juice or calamansi.

Do not discard overripe bananas that are mushy and the peels have turned black. They are still good and actually ideal to be used for making banana breads and muffins.

We often have this in our table because my mom doesn't want us to have joint problems. She has a friend who has a potassium deficiency and went to a hospital one day with her arms outstretched and she can't put it down. The doctor just told her to eat more bananas next time. Ha!ha!ha!
