Coffee is the world’s most popular beverage made from the dried, roasted, and ground beans of coffee berries. And this popularity surged even more in recent years with the mushrooming of coffee shops in every country in the world.

Why is it considered an aphrodisiac?
Your cup of joe will keep you awake on those late nights when you need to keep your eyes open and your brains alert. No wonder people reach for a cup of coffee to stimulate the brain, to finish a task, or to simply get a boost of energy.

Having freshly brewed coffee wafting through the kitchen is enough to wake up the senses. Savoring its flavor in a romantic setting could very well lead to romantic moments.

Some book authors claim that coffee drinkers have sex more frequently than non-drinkers. Coffee has been found to increase the levels of dopamine—a neurotransmitter associated with the pleasure system of the brain—and enhance stamina. Having extra energy and a good mood would be a perfect combination for an amorous rendezvous.

The antioxidants and phytochemicals in coffee have been proven to have therapeutic properties. Coffee revs up the body’s metabolism and keep the mind alert. But having too much of a good thing is also bad. A cup or two of coffee can be stimulating, but having too much of it can have a depressant effect.

Buying and storing
Whole coffee beans can bought in supermarkets by grams. You can have it ground then later brew it at home. Freshly brewed coffee tastes richer and deeper than instant coffee in powder form. When choosing coffee beans, choose those with chocolate brown color. Almost black and shiny beans can be bitter as it’s an indication that it may have been over-roasted.

Keep your coffee in airtight containers as it goes stale quickly once exposed to air. Never put your coffee powder or beans in the freezer or refrigerator as doing so would make it absorb moisture. Moisture in coffee will make its rich bold flavor deteriorate.
