Q: I'm planning to serve a cheese platter during my next party. How do I prepare one?
A: Cheesemaker extraordinaire Olive Puentespina of Malagos Farmhouse Cheese offers some suggestions:
“A cheese platter can be as simple as a wheel of Camembert with a bunch of grapes or as elaborate as a board with seven kinds of cheeses and fruits, nuts, cold cuts, marinated olives, sun-dried tomatoes, breads, and crackers.
For your party, serve a fresh cheese, a semi-aged one, and some sort of blue cheese or aged variety, with assorted fresh or dried fruits and nuts. If you like, set out a basket of artisan breads. Have fun!”
