Cheese Tonkatsu

A slice of cheese makes this pork cutlet even more delicious. Aside from enjoying it with rice, try making a tonkatsu sandwich.

Prep Time 15 minutes, plus chilling time

2 (150-gram) slices skinless pork loin or tenderloin, about 1/2-inch thick

Salt

Pepper

1 tablespoon calamansi juice

2 Arla Burger Cheese Slices

½ cup all-purpose flour

1 large egg

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Cooking oil

1 cup shredded cabbage,

1 Cup steamed rice

Tonkatsu sauce

 

1 Slice the pork in the middle and tenderize by pounding it with the back of the knife.

2 Season with salt, pepper and calamansi juice.

3 Place 2 Arla Burger Cheese Slices in the middle of the sliced pork, fold over and secure with toothpicks.

4 Put flour, egg and breadcrumbs in separate bowls.

5 Dredge pork chops in flour, dip in beaten egg, then coat in breadcrumbs.

6 Chill for 5 minutes.

7 Pour oil in a pan and put on medium heat.

8 Fry pork for about 4 to 6 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

9 Place on a wire rack to drain excess oil.

10 Remove toothpicks, serve on top of steamed rice and top with shredded cabbage and tonkatsu sauce.

Cheesy Potato Bombs

Even if breaktime is a long time away, you'll be tempted to pop these morsels of cheesy goodness into your mouth.

Prep time 20 minutes, plus chilling time

Cooking time 15 minutes

Serves 2 to 3

 

6 Arla Burger Cheese Slices

2 cups mashed potatoes

1 spring onions, diced

Salt

Pepper

½ cup Arla Milk Goodness Full Cream

1 egg

1 cup bread crumbs

1 cup panko bread crumbs

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon salt

Vegetable oil for frying

 

1 Slice Arla Burger Cheese Slices into 3 strips, then roll. Set aside in the chiller.

2 Mix mashed potatoes and spring onions in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper.

3 Whisk milk and egg in one bowl.

4 Place breadcrumbs, garlic powder and salt in another bowl.

5 Make the potato balls: get a spoonful of mashed potato.

6 Place rolled Arla Burger Cheese Slices in the center.

7 Mold the mashed potatoes around cheese slices, roll into balls or logs.

8 Dip into the milk and egg mixture, then into breadcrumbs. Repeat to double coat.

9 Repeat with remaining ingredients and chill for at least 15 minutes.

10 Heat vegetable oil in a pot over medium high heat.

11 Carefully add potato bombs and fry for about 2 minutes or until golden.

12 Place on a wire rack to drain excess oil. Serve.


Cheesy Lumpiang Shanghai

Put a twist to this classic Filipino dish by adding Arla Burger Cheese Slices.

500 grams ground pork

300 grams shrimp, peeled, minced

1 medium onion, minced

3 garlic cloves, minced

2 medium carrots, finely chopped

2 tablespoons chopped spring onion

2 tablespoons minced kinchay

1 large egg

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon sesame oil

15 Arla Burger Cheese Slices, sliced in half

30 pieces medium lumpia wrappers

Water, to dampen lumpia wrapper

Vegetable oil, for deep frying

 

1 Combine ground pork, shrimp, onion, garlic, carrot, kinchay, egg, soy sauce and pepper in a large bowl.

2 Season with salt and pepper and add sesame oil. Mix well.

3 Place 1 to 2 tablespoons of the mixture on the lumpia wrapper.

4 Place Arla Burger Cheese Slice on top.

5 Fold over wrapper over, tuck the sides, and roll tightly into a log.

6 Seal by dampening the edges with water.

7 Repeat with the remaining ingredients.

8 Preheat oil in a pan over medium heat. 

9 Deep fry lumpia for 2 to 3 minutes or until golden.

10 Place in a rack to remove excess oil.

Cheesy Quesadillas

Scrumptious, cheesy, and incredibly easy to make.

Prep time 10 minutes

2 teaspoons vegetable oil, divided

4 flour tortillas

8 Arla Burger Cheese Slices

Store-bought tomato salsa, to serve

 

1 Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.

2 Add the tortilla and top each with 2 Arla Burger Cheese Slices

3 Cook for about 3 to 5 minutes or until tortilla is golden brown and cheese has melted.

4 Fold the quesadilla in half to sandwich the cheese.

5 Transfer to a cutting board and slice into wedges.

6 Serve with salsa.

Cheesy Pork Gyoza

Bits of cheese incorporated into the filling of this Japanese dumpling makes it utterly irresistible. You can also use wonton wrappers to make fried dumplings instead.

Makes about 3 dozen

 
500 grams ground pork

1 medium carrot, minced

1/2 cup chopped spring onions

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons cornstarch

Pepper 

1 egg, beaten

6 to 8 Arla Burger Cheese Slices, chopped

3 dozen gyoza wrappers

1 teaspoon sesame oil for pan-frying

¼ cup water

Sesame oil

Chili oil

Soy sauce

 

1 Combine pork, carrots, spring onions, soy sauce, cornstarch, salt, and pepper in a large bowl and thoroughly mix.

2 Fill a gyoza wrapper with 1 teaspoon meat mixture.

3 Add chopped Arla Burger Cheese Slices on top.

4 Brush sides with beaten egg.

5 Fold wrapper in half and crimp the edges to seal.

6 Repeat with remaining ingredients and chill for 15 minutes.

7 Heat the oil in a large non-stick frying pan over medium high heat.

8 Arrange gyoza in a single layer, flat side down and cook for 1 to 2 minutes or until bottom of gyoza turns golden.

9 Add ¼ cup water and cover the pan with a lid to steam.

10 Cook for 2 minutes or until most of the water evaporates.

11 Remove lid, drizzle with more sesame oil and allow gyoza to cook to a crisp.

12 Serve with sesame oil, chili oil and soy sauce.
