These Classic Cuts of Meat Are Better Barbecued

Choose the best cuts of meat for barbecues at home, and find out where to get the best barbecue dishes in Manila.

Barbecuing is a cooking process that involves cooking meat over very low heat for a long period of time. Wood or charcoal is often used in this cooking process, and gives barbecued meat its earthy, smoky flavors. Here are classic cuts of meat that are best when barbecued.

1 Brisket

Brisket is a prized cut of beef: located in the lower chest and normally one of the tougher cuts of meat, brisket needs a low and slow cook to break down into a fork-tender, dreamy dinner.

2 Pulled Pork

The key to making a good pulled pork recipe is to cook the meat so slowly that it becomes tender enough to pull apart with your hands or forks. A classic in many outdoor parties, pulled pork is not complete without a good barbecue sauce to accompany it.

3 Ribs

The quintessential meat for any barbecue—beef or pork, is the rib. Ribs can be prepared with a dry rub or brushed with barbecue sauce throughout the smoking process to churn out soft, tender meat.
