The holiday season is upon us, which means that Christmas parties are happening left and right! Why not take a break from the usual gift of libation and start the party with this instead: Hiraya Bakery’s Cerveza Chocolate Cake.

This chocolate cake is everything you want it to be: ultra-moist cake, a thick chocolate pudding filling, Cerveza Negra-spiked frosting, and chocolate cookie crumbs for garnish. It highlights the full-bodied, dark caramel flavors of a dark lager—which perfectly complements the dark chocolate in the cake!

Hiraya Bakery, run by pastry chefs Colette dela Cruz and Likha Babay, is a San Pablo, Laguna-based bakery that specializes in bringing out the best of local Philippine flavors in their pastries. Find them at the Katipunan Weekend Market this weekend, December 9 to 11 at Estancia, Capitol Commons and 35 Abada at the Capitol Common Grounds on December 16 to 18.
