You Have to Try Toyo Eatery's Tocino Bread!
Toyo Eatery's tocino bread is perfect as a bread appetizer or a delicious baon treat.
Chef Jordy Navarra’s Toyo Eatery is well-known for its modern takes on classic Filipino dishes. Pop into their cozy space at The Alley in Karrivin Plaza along Chino Roces Extension, and you’re in for a treat: there’s an a la carte menu, a three-course set menu, and a seven-course tasting menu to choose from.
Part of their menus are breads well-done, with renowned baker Richard Manapat at the helm of it all. One shouldn't leave the restaurant without biting into the soft, brioche-like, buttery tocino bread (made by their pastry chef, Sam Constantino) that serves as the bread appetizer in their set menus. Dotted with sweet pork and sliced onions gently folded into the dough, Toyo Eatery’s tocino bread is definitely a treat for any bread-lover!
Call in one day ahead and you can order these buns by bulk—and welcome them into your own dinner tables at home or into your lunch boxes for baon. Their sourdough and buttermilk loaves are also up for grabs if tasty, crusty breads are more up your alley!
