Want a superbly easy dinner? Make this Japanese soup stock use it and add soba noodles, shiitake mushrooms, chicken breast slices, poached seafood, leeks and tofu.
Prep Time 10 minutes Cooking Time 30 minutes
4 cups water
1/3 cup bonito flakes
(bonito is a type of fish; bonito flakes
are used to make dashi)
1 In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Reduce the heat—the water should be at a simmer.
2 Add the bonito flakes and stir; turn off the heat and let stand for 3 to 5 minutes.
3 Strain the stock before using or storing.
