Frozen Bananas
By Pixie Sevilla-Santos
Dip banana in melted chocolate, freeze, enjoy!
Prep Time About 2 hours
4 yellow bananas, peeled
4 wooden popsicle sticks
500 grams (1 pound) semisweet chocolate chips
3 tablespoons butter
for toppings: chopped nuts, candy sprinkles, chocolate chips, crushed cookies
1 Insert popsicle sticks halfway through each banana and place each piece on a wax-paper-lined cookie sheet. Place the bananas in the freezer for an hour.
2 After an hour, melt chocolate and butter in a double boiler or in a pot sitting in a bigger pot with boiling water. Stir continuously and gently to prevent air bubbles.
3 When chocolate and butter are completely melted, let it cool a bit until the mixture is able to hold when used as coating. (To test, dip a spoon and see if the chocolate holds.) When ready, dip each banana and roll immediately in desired toppings.
Tip: You can use different kinds of chocolate, not just semisweet chocolate chips. Try white or milk chocolate. You can even use colored chocolate!
