Make some meatballs and make them your child's baon.
Makes 4 to 6 mini subs Prep Time 30 minutes Cooking Time 20 minutes
500 grams ground beef
1 egg, beaten
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 onion, chopped finely
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup chopped parsley
salt and pepper to taste
vegetable oil for browning
4 cups store-bought marinara sauce
4 to 6 pieces mini bread rolls
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese or grated Cheddar cheese
1 Mix first eight ingredients together, then form and roll into small balls. Set aside.
2 Heat oil in a pan then fry the mini meatballs just until nicely browned, about 2 minutes.
3 In a separate pan over medium heat, heat the marinara sauce. Add the meatballs. Let the meatballs cook in the sauce for 15 minutes.
4 Slice bread rolls in half, lengthwise. Fill with meatballs and sauce inside. Top with cheese.
To make Easy Marinara Sauce: In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil and sauté 1 chopped onion and 1 clove chopped garlic for 3 minutes. Add 1 can diced tomatoes, 1/2 cup tomato sauce, and 1/4 teaspoon each dried oregano, dried basil, and dried thyme. Season to taste. Simmer over low heat for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Makes 4 cups.
