Mini Meatball Sub



Mini Meatball Sub

Make some meatballs and make them your child's baon.


Makes
4 to 6 mini subs  Prep Time 30 minutes Cooking Time 20 minutes

 

500 grams ground beef
1 egg, beaten
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 onion, chopped finely
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup chopped parsley
salt and pepper to taste
vegetable oil for browning
4 cups store-bought marinara sauce
4 to 6 pieces mini bread rolls
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese or grated Cheddar cheese

 

1  Mix first eight ingredients together, then form and roll into small balls. Set aside.

  Heat oil in a pan then fry the mini meatballs just until nicely browned, about 2 minutes.

  In a separate pan over medium heat, heat the marinara sauce. Add the meatballs. Let the meatballs cook in the sauce for 15 minutes.

  Slice bread rolls in half, lengthwise. Fill with meatballs and sauce inside. Top with cheese.


To make Easy Marinara Sauce:
In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil and sauté 1 chopped onion and 1 clove chopped garlic for 3 minutes. Add 1 can diced tomatoes, 1/2 cup tomato sauce, and 1/4 teaspoon each dried oregano, dried basil, and dried thyme. Season to taste. Simmer over low heat for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Makes 4 cups.
