These mini burgers are great for the road trip to the beach. Bring along small bags of different potato chips so everyone can choose their own sides.
Serves 1 Prep Time 12 minutes Cooking Time 20 minutes
200 grams ground Angus beef
80 grams pork sausage, casing removed
half an onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
1/8 teaspoon each of onion and garlic powders
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper to taste
4 tablespoons mix of grated Emmenthal, Gruyere, and Appenzeller cheeses
1 burger bun
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 large tomato, thinly sliced
1 red onion, thinly sliced
a bunch of mixed greens with arugula
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 In a mixing bowl, combine first 7 ingredients together until a patty can be formed.
2 Sear burger patty on high heat until brown on both sides, then transfer to a very hot grill and cook through.
3 Top with grated cheeses and cook until melted.
4 Slice burger buns in half and brush cut side with softened butter. Grill until crisp.
5 Place burger patty with melted cheese on top of a bun, then top with tomato and onion rings. Top with mixed greens and drizzle with Dijon mustard.
