White Adobo



White Adobo

Turn any leftover of this popular Yummy recipe into a delicious sandwich filling for the following day.

Serves 5   Prep and Cooking Time 1 hour and 15 minutes

 

1 kilo kasim or liempo (pork belly), adobo cut
1 whole garlic pounded
2 cups white vinegar
1 cup water
5 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
3 teaspoons salt
2 pieces bay leaf
1/4 cup peppercorn

 

Marinate meat in garlic and vinegar for 30 minutes.

Put water, bay leaf, peppercorn, sugar, and salt in a pot and add in meat mixture.

3  Let boil then lower heat and simmer meat until tender, about 30 to 40 minutes.

Leftover tip: For adobo flakes, flake meat and stir-fry in oil.

    this is one of my favorite YUMMY recipes.

    I actually use white vinegar + cane vinegar and use some brown sugar instead of white sugar to give the adobo some color.

    I had a chance to taste this version when I dined at an acquaintance's house. He's very health conscious and he doesn't want soy sauce included. But the taste has little difference with the soy sauce adobo version so it's excellent for those dieters and health conscious persons.

    I cook this in a crock pot. I use only one cup vinegar and about 3/4c water. It's the family favorite. ^_^

    this recipe is YUMMY!!I've tried this yesterday :) after simmering, i increased the heat to brown the meat and to make the sauce caramelized. YUMyum!

    hi..i've been cooking white adobo for years now but a little different than this recipe.i cook it a little longer to brown the meat.you'll see thedifference-it's like adobo

    Wow! Back in Pampanga, we call this style of Adobo, "Arobo" it's delicious and you can fry the leftover for an even more delicious Fried Chicken meal! ha ha XD
