This recipe works equally well with store-bought Thai tea. Simply brew according to the directions on the package, and add crushed ice and condensed milk.
1 gallon water
8 pieces star anise, grounded
1 tablespoon powder vanilla
1 pinch clove powder
1 pinch chopped cinnamon
3/4-quart black tea leaves
condensed milk
1 Bring water to a boil.
2 Add star anise, powder vanilla, clove powder, chopped cinnamon, and three-fourths quart of black tea leaves. Continue boiling for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
3 Remove from heat. Cover and steep until water is lukewarm.
4 Strain and pour into individual glasses.
5 Add crushed ice and top off with two or more tablespoons of condensed milk.
6 Serve with long-stemmed spoons so guests can stir their tea.
