Makes 12 pieces
Prep Time 8 minutes plus marinating time
Cooking Time 10 minutes
400 grams beef sirloin
or rib eye, sliced very thinly
1/3 cup bottled beef kalbi
marinade sauce
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground
black pepper
80 grams asparagus spears,
cut into 2 1/2-inch pieces
3 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon toasted
sesame seeds for sprinkling
1 Mix together beef, marinade sauce, and black pepper. Marinate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
2 To blanch asparagus, first boil water with a pinch of salt in a medium pot. Add asparagus and cook until tender, about 2 to 4 minutes. Immediately transfer asparagus to a bowl of iced water. Drain and set aside.
3 Take one slice of beef and wrap 3 to 4 pieces of asparagus. Secure with a toothpick. Repeat with the rest of the beef and asparagus.
4 Heat a frying pan and melt 1 1/2 tablespoons butter. Pan-fry beef, 4 to 6 pieces at a time, for about 2 to 3 minutes or until brown. Repeat with remaining butter and beef. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on beef parcels right before serving.
