4 slices bacon, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 dozens live Manila clams, scrubbed well
2 cups beer
2 bay leaves
3 tablespoons butter
1 bunch cilantro

1 Fry bacon in a medium pot for about 3 minutes. Add the onion and garlic and continue cooking until the onion becomes translucent.
2 Stir in the clams along with the beer and bay leaves. Scrape bottom as you stir to get more flavor. Cover the pot and steam the clams for 5 to 10 minutes, until they open. Discard clams that remain closed.
