Breaded Pork Chop Surprise

By: Yummy reader Carmina Jean de Leon

Breaded Pork Chop Surprise

Carmina Jean de Leon, 33, noticed her hubby getting bored with his usual baon of breaded pork chop and rice. She decided it was time to revamp her old recipe and add one more ingredient—basil. Tasty and easy to make, this recipe should please lunch-packing husbands and kids everywhere.

Serves 4 to 5  Prep Time 5 minutes  Cooking Time 10 minutes

1 kilo pork chops
3 tablespoons dried basil
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 egg, beaten
1 cup breadcrumbs
oil for frying

In a bowl, mix dried basil, salt, and pepper.

Rub each slice of pork chop with the basil mixture.

Heat oil in pan.

4 Dip pork chop in egg then coat with breadcrumbs.

Fry until golden brown. Best served with colelslaw on the side, hot rice. and tomato ketchup.

Substitution tip: No pork chop? Liempo would make a good substitute. Wanna spice it up a bit? Just add  1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder to the basil-salt-pepper  mixture before rubbing it  on the chops.
