Here's a guilt-free way to snack. This bar is crunchy, nutty, and chewy—all in one bite!
Makes 36 pieces Prep Time 30 minutes Baking Time 30 minutes
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups quick-cooking oats
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups softened margarine
For the filling
1 cup caramel topping
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup walnuts
1 Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease 13x9-inch pan.
2 In a bowl, beat flour, quick-cooking oats, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, and softened margarine on low speed until crumbly. Reserve half of this crumb mixture for topping. Put other half in bottom of pan and spread. Bake 10 minutes.
3 Meanwhile, make the filling: In a bowl, mix caramel topping and all-purpose flour. Sprinkle chocolate chips and walnuts over baked base. Drizzle evenly with caramel mixture, then sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes more or until golden brown. Cool about 1 hour, then cut into bars.
