On a hot day, nothing beats fresh fruit on ice! Try this Sweetened Bananas with Sago and Gulaman in Caramel Syrup. Here's an idea—pour in some fresh milk or coconut milk to make a creamy, icy delight.

Serves

3/4 cup sugar
1 cup water
2 saba bananas,
     peeled and sliced into rounds
1/2 cup large sago (tapioca balls),
      cooked according to package instructions
1/2 cup red gulaman (gelatin), cubed
2 cups crushed ice
1/4 cup cornflakes

Boil together sugar and water.

Add bananas. Continue to boil until the bananas become soft, then transfer to a bowl.

Add gulaman and sago to the bananas.

4  Top with crushed ice then drizzle with banana syrup. Garnish with cornflakes.
