Vanilla Ice Cream with Cinnamon-spiced Apple Topping

Try this sweet, comforting topping for the versatile vanilla.

 

For the spiced topping
1 apple, chopped into bite-size pieces
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter

1 pint vanilla ice cream

 

1  Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and salt in a small bowl and sprinkle over chopped apples.

2  Melt butter in a small saucepan. Add apple mixture and boil until apple chunks soften and mixture turns syrupy.

Place three scoops of vanilla ice cream in a bowl. Top with apple topping and drizzle with more syrup.
