Whisk 2 cups mascarpone cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons amaretto until smooth; fold in 1 cup heavy cream (beaten to soft peaks).
Place 1 cup espresso (at room temperature) in a shallow dish and dip in enough ladyfingers to fill the bottom layer of a pan.
Spread half the mascarpone mixture over ladyfingers; sprinkle with chopped bittersweet chocolate. Repeat process. Refrigerate.
