Crouton
Cube day-old bread into desired size, and place on a toaster plate. Coat (not smother) with olive oil, and toast for 10 minutes or until golden brown. For some flavor, toss croutons with pesto, garlic powder, or salt as soon as soon as they're done toasting.
If your toaster's too small, use a baking sheet and oven.
Bread Pudding
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Farenheit. Break six slices of day-old bread into an 8-inch baking pan. Drizzle 2 tablespooons melted butter or margarine over bread. Sprinkle with raisins, if desired.
In a mixing bowl, combine 4 eggs, 2 cups whole milk (or 2 cups half & half), sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and teaspoon vanilla extract. Beat until well mixed. Pour over bread, and lightly push down with a fork until bread is fully covered and is soaking up the egg mixture.
Bake for 45 minutes or until the top springs back when lightly tapped.
Bread Dumplings
In large bowl, combine 1/2 cup vegetable oil and 3/4 loaf bread. Add 2 eggs, 1/4 cup milk, 1 teaspoon baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Mix well. Add enough flour to make into balls. Refrigerate for 2 hours. Put into boiling water 10 minutes, or until they float.

French Toast
Beat 4 eggs, 2/3 cup milk, and 2 teaspoons cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Beat until blended well. Pour into a shallow bowl.
Dip 8 slices day-old bread one by one into the egg mixture, allowing bread to soak up some of the mixture. Melt 2 tablespoons butter on a large skillet over medium heat. Add as many slices of bread onto the skillet as will fit at a time. Fry until brown on both sides. Serve hot with butter, maple syrup, and if available, fresh fruits.
Bread remake
Preheat oven to 300 degrees Farenheit. Place the day-old bread in a paper bag. Close the bag and slightly dampen it. Bake the bagged bread for 5 minutes or until it is good as new. Serve within 10 minutes, or it will get even harder than before.
