Cutting your own chicken is a breeze when you know the ins and outs of a whole chicken. Here’s a basic guide to cutting those anxieties away!
Mark the spine by making a defined incision from the neck to the top of the thighs.
Take out the spine including the neck. Open the chicken and take out the central bone with the cartilage (soft bone) attached.
Cut the chicken into half in the same direction as the incision.
Cut the chicken thigh by slicing through the joint that connects the thigh to the breast. Do the same to the other thigh.
Cut the chicken leg (drumstick) from the chicken thigh by slicing through the joint that connects the leg and thigh. Do the same to the other leg.
Cut the chicken wings from the chicken breast by slicing through the joints that connect the wings to the breast.
Divide the chicken breast into two.
