Slice off both ends of the orange using a sharp knife. This will prevent the fruit from rolling.
Next, discard the skin by slicing in even, downward strokes. Remove any remaining white pith after.
Slice between the membranes and catch any juice that oozes out by slicing the orange over a bowl.
