Did You Know You Can Easily Make Frosting By Using Marshmallows?
Here's how you can make easy snow-white frosting.

If you've ever eaten or seen a classic Devil's Food cake, you'll notice that the cake is covered in a snowy white, fluffy frosting. It's quite unlike any other buttercream icing you've ever encountered before, but that's because it's not a buttercream frosting at all.
 Â
The beautifully-white and sticky frosting on this classic cake is a marshmallow frosting. It's made from heated egg whites and sugar, whisked while hot until the mixture cools, transforming the glop into a thick, glossy, fluffy, and gooey mixture. This is the beginning of homemade marshmallows, but not taking it any further than that.Â
Â
You may also know this gooey and easy-to-make frosting by another name: the 7-minute frosting. But we know an even easier way to make this frosting: melt marshmallows.Â
Â
Â
Since the mixture is basically marshmallows except a more gooey version, it makes sense that if you melt marshmallows, you get the same mixture.Â
Â
If you're excited to try to make this frosting, you'll be even more excited to learn it's actually easy to do. Here's what to do:Â Place 4 cups marshmallows into a large pot. Place over low heat and using a silicone spatula or heat-resistant kitchen utensil, stir until the mixture begins to melt. Keep stirring until all the marshmallows have melted. If desired, stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon all-purpose cream to loosen the mixture into a smoother mixture.
Â
Then use immediately to frost that decadent chocolate cake that you've just made for dessert.  Â
