WATCH: How to Make Cassava Cake
No oven? You can use a turbo broiler to make cassava cake at home!

Cassava cake is a soft Filipino dessert made with grated cassava and coconut milk. Make sure the cake is firm on top before adding the topping mixture.

1 kilo cassava, grated
2 cups fresh coconut milk
1 can evaporated milk
4 egg whites
2 cups brown sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted

For the topping:
250ml condensed milk
1 cup fresh coconut milk
3 egg yolks

1/4 cup soft cheddar cheese, grated

1 In a large mixing bowl, mix the cassava, coconut milk, evaporated milk, egg whites, brown sugar, and butter until combined.

2 Pour the cassava mixture into a greased baking pan and bake for at 200F for 60-65 minutes in a (turbo broiler/oven) or until the top is firm and set.

3 In a separate mixing bowl, combine the condensed milk, fresh coconut milk, and egg yolks. Pour the prepared topping mixture onto the baked cassava cake and continue baking for another 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

4 Sprinkle grated cheese over the cassava cake and continue to bake for 5-10 minutes or until the cheese is golden brown. Cool completely before slicing.
