WATCH: You Can Make Edible Cookie Dough

If you have always stopped yourself from eating the raw cookie dough before it was baked into actual cookies, you are not alone. The cookie dough is quite delicious and the texture is different from the actual cookie. 

You'll love this safe and edible cookie dough recipe if you're the type to swipe a few balls from the cookie sheet before it goes in the oven. This recipe is safe because there are no raw ingredients in the recipe that needs to be cooked. There are no eggs and even the flour is safe to eat. 

To make the flour safe and not have that raw flour flavor, it's toasted in a cast iron pan before being added to the rest of the ingredients of the dough. Plus, no eggs are necessary for this recipe but it does need a binder. Enter fresh milk. It has just enough to make sure that the flour is moistened and the rest of the ingredients hold together enough to make a dough.    


Chocolate chips are a classic mix-in but the mix-ins are endless once you master this easy recipe.

Edible Cookie Dough Recipe

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • chocolate chips
  • 1. Toast flour over low heat until golden brown. Stir continuously to prevent flour from burning. Set aside.
  • 2. In another bowl, combine brown sugar, salt, vanilla extract, butter, and milk. Add flour. Stir until just combined. 
  • 3. Add as many chocolate chips as you want and mix until combined.
