Check out these simple and practical nuggets of culinary wisdom to make you a better cook:

Toast nuts and seeds before adding to soups, sauces, and marinades. Toasting releases all their wonderful flavors.

When searing or browning meat, pat its surface dry with paper towels. Excess moisture will steam it instead of searing its surface.

Preparing smoothies for breakfast? Freeze your fruits and vegetables overnight to make blending them easier. It'll also make your shakes extra cold!

Cut vegetables in uniform sizes-this ensures that they finish steaming, boiling, or sautéing at the same time.

To clean greens easily, soak them first in a bowl of cold water. Stir then let stand for a few minutes. Scoop them out and check the water. Repeat until water is clean and no dirt or residue remains.

Store leftover cream, broth, juices, and other liquids by freezing them in ice cube trays. Once frozen, transfer to a resealable bag and use as needed.

Wrap burger patties or fish fillets individually in plastic wrap or place parchment paper between pieces before freezing so that you can thaw as few or as many as needed.

When adding oil to a pan, pour it in a steady stream along the edges. The oil will be hot when it settles in the center of the pan.
