WATCH: How To Make Adobong Manok With Tofu And Egg

For many Filipinos living in the United States, they have had to learn to cook, relying on recipes they learned from their parents. They may also attempt to recreate dishes that they had while growing up in the Philippines.

Pepito Santos, a lawyer and physical therapist living in New York, constantly whips up an adobo recipe adapted from a dish that his mom often prepared. This version includes hard-boiled eggs (which is common in Chinese-style adobo) and tofu, a plant-based protein alternative that he adds for his wife. He uses the usual ingredients found in your usual adobo but substitutes some with items that he can easily access in the United States. The result: a satisying adobong manok that his daughter loves!
