This easy chicken appetizer will have everyone asking for seconds! This works as both merienda and appetizer—serve with gravy, ketchup, or your favorite chili sauce on the side. 

 

CHICKEN POPCORN

 

Prep time 15 minutes
Cooking time 20 minutes
Serves 4

 

3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 tablespoon minced garlic (or grocery-bought garlic powder)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
oil, for frying
1/2 kilo chicken breast fillet, cut into 1-inch cubes
2 medium eggs

 

1 In a medium-sized bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and pepper together. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and season with salt and pepper until combined.

 

2 Dip the chicken fillet cuts one by one in egg, then dredge in the flour-cornstarch mixture. Repeat the procedure then deep-fry in a pot with preheated oil until golden brown.

 

3 Serve with mushroom gravy (optional).
