Dark chocolate lovers will rave over this decadent champorado recipe. The rice porridge gets a dose of dark chocolate, contains no milk, and so, becomes seriously chocolatey in flavor. 


Use your favorite dark chocolate to stir into this breakfast meal that warms the heart as well as your chocolate-loving soul. 



Dark Chocolate Champorado


Takes 20 minutes

Makes 2 servings


1/2 cup glutinous rice

2 1/2 cups water

3/4 cup dark chocolate, chopped

1/4 cup granulated sugar, more as needed

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Sweetened condensed milk, to serve (optional)


1 Pour rice into a medium-sized saucepan. Add water. Cook glutinous rice over medium heat, stirring constantly until the rice is transparent in color and gooey in texture.


2 Add dark chocolate, sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until chocolate has melted and sugar has dissolved. Stir in more sugar as desired. Serve in warmed bowls with condensed milk drizzled on top, if desired.



For a truly decadent dessert, top each bowl with a scoop of strawberry ice cream.
