How To Make Fried Chicken Skin Crispy Without Using The Stove

Crispy fried chicken is always a goal. From dredging chicken pieces in different kinds of flour to steaming it or even boiling it before dunking in hot oil, you can do many things to cook crispy fried chicken.  

However, the sad news is that once it's been fried, fried chicken doesn't always keep its crispiness. We know you don't always want to slave away in front of the stove so here are three ways you can crisp up that fried chicken (and anything else that has become makunat) to its original crispy and crunchy texture again:

1 Use your oven. 

One of the neglected uses of the oven is for reheating. You can use it to reheat food and one of the best ways of doing that is by using the oven. You can use the oven to reheat food that not only was baked in the oven but even food that wasn't. 

Fried chicken is easy to reheat in the oven and it will even bring back your crispy skin. You can even use this same technique when toasting nuts or crisping up chicharon and even your snack chips that have become makunat! All you have to do is preheat the oven to 350 degrees F or 180 degrees C. Lay out the food you need crunchy again in a single layer in a baking pan or baking sheet. Place it in the oven and give it 5 to 10 minutes or as needed if the pieces are tiny or large. If you have a fan in the oven, you can turn that on to ensure even distribution of the heat inside. Toss, especially the nuts, or flip the food as needed if it's not getting enough heat and becoming crisp.

2 Air fry it!

That air fryer has more uses than you think! If you thought the microwave was the best appliance for reheating food, think again when it comes to fried chicken and anything else that should have crispy edges.

The microwave can heat food up very well but it lacks the ability to crisp up food. Here's where the air fryer outshines the microwave in speed. While the air fryer can cook food, it can also reheat food, especially crispy and crunchy fried chicken quite well, too. In fact, we may even say it's one of the best appliances for reheating fried chicken or anything that has been fried because the hot air wicks away moisture, the enemy of crispiness, making it easier for the food to become crunchy again.

3 Maximize the uses of your oven toaster. 

If you have no air fryer or an oven, you might have an oven toaster. If the only thing it does is toast pandesal and other bread, you need to rethink its use! The oven toaster is literally a mini oven so it can crisp up your fried chicken.
