Homemade pork and beans is so good—it's hearty, filling, and made with all the good stuff you love in the canned version. You can also use chorizo instead of bacon, or both! The best things about homemade versions is that you can use what's available in your kitchen or add more of what you love. 

 

Homemade Pork and Beans Recipe

4

 

2 tablespoons oil
3 pieces bacon, chopped
1 medium white onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 kilo pork cubes
1 250 grams tomato sauce
1 cup water
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
1 240-gram can white beans, drained
1 teaspoon white sugar (to taste, optional)

 

1 In a preheated saucepan, saute the bacon, garlic in hot oil until golden brown. Add onion and saute until translucent.

 

2 Add the pork cubes. Once the meat is browned, add the tomato sauce and water. Cover the pot and let it simmer for 20 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and sugar (optional).

 

3 Once the meat is tender, add the white beans and let it simmer again for 5 minutes. Serve immediately.
