Grab your rice cooker and wow friends and family with a batch of homemade suman! Suman is a glutinous rice cake, which is often wrapped in banana leaves when steamed. This Filipino classic can be prepared in different ways however, this recipe is the easiest and simplest to do. It takes less than an hour to make and is sure to be a crowdpleaser during merienda time. You could jazz it up by stuffing the suman with chocolate or serving it with mangoes and coco jam. There's nothing better than a fresh batch of suman after your afternoon siesta. Here's a tip: Don't forget to pass the banana leaves over an open flame. This makes the leaf glossy and prevents it from tearing apart.
