WATCH: How to Make No-Bake Chocolate Yema Cake
You don't need an oven to make cake!
Keeping it sweet and simple, try out this steamed chocolate cake topped with creamy yema frosting perfect for any occasion.
1/2 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup full cream milk
2 tablespoons water
1 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
To make the yema frosting:
1/2 cup condensed milk
2 egg yolks
1 pinch sea salt
Make the no-bake chocolate cake: In a small saucepan, mix the butter, sugar, milk, and water until melted. Set aside and let cool to room temperature.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and baking powder. Mix this into the butter mixture until just combined.
Pour the batter into a 7-inch cake pan and cover with foil. Steam for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Make the yema frosting: stir the condensed milk and egg yolks in a small saucepan over low heat until thick. Let cool to room temperature before using.
To assemble: Spread the yema frosting over the cake. Serve at room temperature.
