WATCH: 3 Ways to Eat Avocado
Sweet or savory, take your pick! This healthy and good-for-you superfood can be eaten in different ways.
Avocado Bacon Sandwich
sourdough bread, toasted
bacon, cooked (fried or baked is fine)
avocado, peeled, pitted and sliced
1 red onion, sliced thinly
vinegar of your choice
salt and sugar
1 To make quick pickled onions, place sliced onions into a bowl. Add a teaspoon and a half of salt and a tablespoon of sugar. Add just enough vinegar to cover. Stir to dissolve salt and sugar. Set aside for 15-20 minutes.
2 Toast bread. Top with bacon, followed by avocado slices. Season with salt and pepper, then top with pickled onions
2 ripe avocados
1 small handful chopped cilantro/coriander, chopped
1 small white onion, roughly diced
salt and pepper
1 Prep avocados. Add the juice of the lime to prevent browning and add acidity.
2 Mash with the back of a fork. Add onion, cilantro and mix. Season to taste. Serve with chips and an extra wedge of lime.
1 Add prepped avocado, honey and cocoa powder into a bowl. Blend with a hand or stand blender until nice and smooth. And a pinch of salt and splash of vanilla. Taste and adjust sweetness, depending on the ripeness and bitterness of the avocado.
