WATCH: How To Make Delicious Pinoy-Style Chicken Barbecue
If you love chicken barbecue but also love the sweet-savory goodness of pork barbecue sauce, you can have both in this easy-to-make inihaw na manok. This grilled chicken barbecue uses a sweet-style sauce similar to the marinade used for Pinoy-style barbecue. You can also tweak it to your liking: add a bit more brown sugar or add more hot sauce. It's all up to you!Â
Pinoy-style Chicken Barbecue
- Serves 4
- 1 cup banana ketchup
- 2/3 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon liquid seasoning
- 1 whole garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup calamansi juice
- 1/2 cup lemon-lime soda
- 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- black pepper, to taste
- 1 kilo chicken legs
- 1 Make the marinade: In a large bowl, mix banana ketchup, soy sauce, soy sauce, garlic, calamansi juice, pepper, sugar, lime-flavored soda, and hot sauce.
- 2 Set aside 1 cup of the marinade for basting, then pour remaining marinade over the chicken. Pierce the chicken using a fork so the marinade can flavor the chicken meat. Marinate chicken for atleast 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- 3 Place chicken on a preheated grill. Baste chicken often to keep the meat from drying out. Grill until chicken is cooked through. Serve hot.
