Yes, You Can Make Dessert-Inspired Coffee Drinks With Your Nespresso
Get your coffee and dessert fix at once!
Nespresso fans, we have great news for you. Nespresso recently introduced three additions to its Barista Creations range, all inspired by indulgent desserts: Vanilla Éclair, Caramel Crème Brulee, and Cocoa Truffle!
Just like the other variants in this range, these flavors were created to go well with milk so that coffee drinkers can enjoy customized blends right in the comfort of their homes.
To show us how it's done, Cheryl Tiu, a food, culture, and travel journalist and multimedia personality, shared two drink recipes using Nespresso’s dessert-inspired flavors, in particular, Cocoa Truffle and Vanilla Éclair.
For context, Cheryl, who divides her time between Miami and Southeast Asia, runs an event platform promoting food cultures called Cross Cultures. But according to Cheryl, "Since the lockdown was implemented, [Cross Cultures] has become a venue for chefs to share simple recipes from their own kitchens in a series called #HomeCookingTogether."
"As for me, I decided I would experiment with the newest flavors of Nespresso's Barista Creations and see what I could come up with my pantry ingredients," she added.
Give Cheryl's recipes a try! If you prefer something hot and bold, go for Cocoa Truffle Escape. For something iced and sweet, try the Iced Coco Vanilla Éclair. Feel free to adjust the ingredients to suit your taste.
1 Cocoa Truffle Escape Recipe
Have your coffee with a boozy kick! This hot concoction combines rum and dark chocolate with Nespresso Cocoa Truffle to bring out bold, full-bodied flavors. Use any milk you like–Cheryl used almond milk to make her drink–and add sugar for a bit of sweetness. Surely, chocolate and coffee lovers will find this drink heavenly.
Yield: 1 glass
Cocoa Truffle Escape Ingredients:
1/2 to 1 shot rum
1 capsule Nespresso Cocoa Truffle
sugar (optional)
milk
dark chocolate
How To Make Cocoa Truffle Escape:
1 Pour rum into a cup.
2 Brew Nespresso Cocoa Truffle over it. Add sugar if you like your coffee sweet. Stir.
3 Froth milk using the Nespresso Aeroccino’s hot setting. Pour on top of the Nespresso Cocoa Truffle and rum mixture.
4 Grate dark chocolate and add as topping.
2 Iced Coco Vanilla Éclair Recipe
Craving something smooth and sweet? This iced vanilla-coconut drink made with Nespresso Vanilla Éclair and coconut jam–yes, it’s not just for toasts–is for you. Opt for a jam with thinner consistency so it can combine well with the coffee. You can also dilute thicker spreads with a little water first, just like Cheryl did.
Yield: 1 glass
Iced Coco Vanilla Vanilla Éclair Ingredients:
ice cubes
1 to 2 tablespoons coconut jam
1 capsule Nespresso Vanilla Éclair
milk
How To Make Iced Coco Vanilla Éclair:
1 Place ice into a glass.
2 Spoon in the coconut jam.
3 Brew the Nespresso Vanilla Éclair (long) into the glass. Stir.
4 Froth the milk using the Nespresso Aeroccino’s cold setting (just press it twice), and add on top of the coffee. Drizzle more coconut jam on top if you like.
