We always say Christmas is for indulgent and delicious treats.

 

Take that extra step and make Christmas eve and the morning after a bit more fun and festive with these easy-to-make treats:

 

Chocolate spoons make for a great dessert or as snacks while waiting for when you get to open presents.

 

CHOCOLATE SPOONS

Makes 8-10 spoons

250 grams good-quality baking chocolate, chopped
125 ml heavy cream
1/4 cup sssorted sprinkles
8 -10 pieces plastic or wooden spoons


1 Place chocolate in a clean and dry stainless-steel bowl. Set aside.

2 Pour cream in a saucepan and boil over medium-high heat.

3 Make the ganache: Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let rest for 5 minutes. Stir until the mixture is smooth.

4 Let the chocolate ganache set in the chiller for 45 to 60 minutes.

5 Once the ganache has set, dip and coat spoons one at a time, immediately topping with sprinkles. Chill in the refrigerator to set.

Add a festive touch to homemade hot chocolate by rimming the glass with chocolate ganache and candy sprinkles-it turns a cup from ho-hum to Instagram-worthy.

 

HOT CHOCOLATE

Makes 2 cups

 

1 cup milk

1 cup whipping cream

1 tablespoon sugar

1/2 cup dark chocolate, chopped, at room temperature

marshmallows, for topping


1 Boil milk, whipping cream, and sugar in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Lower heat and simmer for 2 minutes. Turn off heat, cover, and steep for at least 10 minutes.

2 Place chopped dark chocolate (at room temperature) in a medium bowl. Strain milk mixture into bowl with chocolate. Whisk until well combined. Add more sugar if necessary. Pour into glasses. To decorate: rim glass by dipping it in chocolate ganache and candy sprinkles. Top with marshmallows. Serve warm.
