This Is A Lemonade Hack You Should Know

This tip will squeeze the juice out better!

Have you ever used an orange juicer? It's allegedly the best way to squeeze all the juice out from citrus fruits such as oranges and lemons. 

There are a few ways to juice a lemon to extract as much juice as possible. Microwave it first, roll it against the chopping board with a hard pressure, and even finely chop it, pith, seeds, rind, and all, and strain the juice. Did you know though there's another way to get all that juice out from these fruits and get better tasting lemonade, too? 

According to The Kitchn, you should bake your lemons first. The idea here is that the lemon flavor is intensified and when charred by the oven, can even deliver a smokiness that you may love in your drink! You can even use an oven toaster for this tip! Just slice lemons in half, place on the baking tray, and toast!

Here is one way to juice lemons better with a basic lemonade recipe to try using this new trick: 

  1. 1 Bake 12 lemons, halved, until softened and charred in a 200 degree C or 400 degree F preheated oven. Let cool and squeeze any juice out from the pulp. Discard pulp, reserving juice.   
  2. 2 Combine 1 1/2 cups roasted lemon juice, 1 1/2 cups sugar, and about 1/2 liters (6 cups water)
  3. 3 Stir to combine and dissolve the sugar. Chill if desired. 
  4. 4 Pour into glasses filled with ice and serve.
