This Is The Easiest Way To Peel Garlic
Use this kitchen hack to get the job done easier.
The microwave can be the most useful kitchen appliance you have or it can be the uni-tasking machine that you only use for one or two things: reheating leftovers and defrosting frozen food.
If reheating food or thaw frozen food faster are the only reasons why you have a microwave, we highly suggest you try to experiment with your kitchen appliance more! There is any number of ways you can use your microwave for more than just these basic tasks. Did you know that you can use your microwave to cook pasta, boil an egg, "bake" a cookie, cook potatoes, steam vegetables, "bake" a brownie or banana bread, and even cook a bacon and mushroom omelet for breakfast!
That's at least seven new ways you can use your microwave that you might not have already known! We're about to add one more thing it can help you with that makes preparing dishes more bothersome: peeling garlic.
If you love the taste of garlic but hate the task of peeling it, we feel you. Peeling garlic is easy, yes, if you plan on smashing it to a flattened pulp and chopping it up to add to your dishes. What about if you want to keep the garlic cloves whole or need it to be sliced rather than finely minced? Peeling garlic while keeping it whole can be exasperating! Sure, it can be done but it can also be a tedious task.
To save you from your garlic peeling woes, we have a prepping hack that makes peeling garlic easier and it involves using your microwave. Here's what you do:
- 1. Pry apart garlic cloves from the head.
- 2. Place in the microwave in a microwave-safe container and cook on High for 20 seconds.
- 3. Pop the garlic from its peels.
We think this is just as easy but a lot less messy than smashing the garlic. Try it! You can even do this for numerous heads of garlic so you don't have to worry about peeling garlic for your next garlic-infused dishes.
