Here's The Fun And Easy Way To Peel Boiled Eggs
Don't become frustrated!
Hard-boiled eggs can be hard to peel. The membrane that protects the egg also prevents it from being peeled easily, too. There are a few ways to do this easily and¬†we know there's a way to peel eggs easily.¬†However, there's¬†another way to do it that's a combination of two popular egg peeling methods.¬†
First, you need eggs to peel. There are only a few things that will ensure that¬†your eggs are perfectly boiled every time:¬†
- 1 Your pot¬†should be big enough to contain the eggs in a single layer.¬†
- 2¬†Use enough water. It should at least¬†have enough water¬†to cover the eggs by 1 inch.¬†
- 3 Use a timer.¬†A perfectly hard-boiled egg is literally one to two minutes away from being an overcooked egg that has that unsightly and unappetizing gray-green¬†outline.¬†
- 4¬†Start the timer¬†when the water is at a boil or when you place the eggs in the boiling water.¬†
Once you have your perfectly boiled egg, you have to remove the¬†shells. This is where many of us become frustrated. The fact is it can be frustrating if the shells¬†refuse to be removed easily and when the egg becomes pockmarked because you're trying to remove that¬†stuck-on piece of eggshell.¬†
The good news is that there is¬†a fun and easy way to do this.¬†
This combination technique does well for hard-boiled eggs but can be too aggressive for soft-boiled eggs. However, to peel soft-boiled eggs, the theory is the same but it can be a lot less violent so the egg stays intact. Just crack the eggshell gently but completely on the outside. Then place the cracked egg in the water so the¬†water can enter the membrane under the shell and separate¬†it from the egg.¬†
Here's what you do:¬†
- 1 Boil eggs as usual.¬†
- 2 Prepare one¬†large container¬†with a lid or a bowl that you can cover with¬†plastic wrap. It should also be big enough to hold cold water and the eggs.¬†
- 3¬†Once eggs are cooked to your desired¬†doneness, remove the eggs from the hot water and place these in the container while still hot.¬†
- 4 Cover the container and shake. The eggshells should crack all over.¬†
- 5 Open the container and transfer the cracked eggs into the¬†bowl with cold water. Let cool enough so you can handle the eggs and remove the¬†shells completely in the water.¬†
Want to shortcut this process so it's¬†much more practical but still a little fun? Do this:
- 1 Ditch the container and drain the pot where you cooked the eggs instead.
- 2 Place the¬†lid on and¬†holding it firmly closed, shake the pot so the eggshells crack well.
- 3 Remove the lid and pour in cold water. Let it cool enough to handle then remove the shells in the water.¬†
