A handy appliance will make it super easy!

Have you ever tried to make kare-kare sauce from scratch? We admit it's not easy.

The peanuts should be ground to a paste, the rice should be toasted and then ground to a fine powder, too. The atsuete or annatto seeds should be simmered in a little oil first to extract its coloring before even starting to cook! No wonder so many people turn to pre-made mixes.

What if we told you that you don't have to settle for mediocre mixes when you can make an easy kare kare sauce from scratch as easily as pushing a button?

This is what we suggest you do: use a blender.

Use a blender to finely process these ingredients into a paste, just like your kare kare sauce ingredients.

The blender is a kitchen appliance that's meant to make our lives easier in the kitchen. Why not make it easier on yourselves and use it for this task? Here's what you do:

Mix 1/2 cup roasted peanuts, 1/4 cup toasted rice, and about 1 cup water or enough to cover the ingredients in the blender jug. Process it until the mixture is liquified. When ready, pour this mixture into a pot, bring it to a boil, and then simmer it until it becomes thickened. This will easily coat about 1 kilo of your choice of kare-kare mix-ins.

Feel free to adjust the amount of peanuts and rice to match the amount of meat and vegetables you'll be cooking.

Doesn't this sound easy? We think this kare-kare sauce hack is going to be your go-to way of making this delicious stew easier.
