Tip of the Week: How to Pound Meat

Don't have a meat mallet? Here's a solution!


Pounding meat serves two purposes: to make meat thinner so it will cook evenly and quickly, and to tenderize the meat. Here’s a simple technique to pound your meat using three items that are most likely in your kitchen already—a resealable plastic bag, an unopened can, and a chopping board.

Just place the meat in the bag, seal, and set on the chopping board. Pound the meat using the sides of the can until it is flattened to your desired width.
