Tocino Breakfast Bake Recipe

Tocilog as a sushi bake? Try it!
Tocino Breakfast Bake Recipe

Ask Pinoys what their favorite breakfast meal is and, chances are, they’ll mention a certain type of silog. This delightful trinity of sinangag, fried egg, and choice of cured meat is beloved by both young and old and has been a staple in Filipino kitchens for as long as anyone can remember.

Tocilog — the to- being tocino, for the uninitiated — is just one of the many iterations of silog fare. Pinoys are known to not shy away from adding a bit of sweetness to certain savory dishes (Pinoy-style spaghetti, anyone?), and so tocino, with its sugary glaze that blends perfectly with the savory fried rice and egg, easily ticks off that box.

For something so easy to make (all you have to do is fry!), tocilog is filling, flavorful, and just enough to fuel one for an entire morning.

But just when you think this classic can’t get any better, enter: Tocino Breakfast Bake.

As you may have already guessed, this take on the tocilog was inspired by the trendy sushi bake. Here, the sinangag is made heftier with the addition of peas, carrots, and CDO Funtastyk Young Pork Tocino, and layered with scrambled eggs and even more tocino. Then, it’s topped with melted cheese to make it special and to add more flavor.

The best part: You can enjoy this any time of the day!
