Airline Meals Just Got An Upgrade In Flavor
AirAsia just launched its farm-to-air menu!
From a flavorful chicken teriyaki meal to a surprisingly tasty vegetarian rice bowl, AirAsia has partnered with local farms to make sure that its new line up of in-flight meals are both fresh and delicious.
Taking its cue from the trend of farm-to-table restaurants, AirAsia introduces the farm-to-air concept, a tie-up with farms from around the country to provide the freshest ingredients showcased on its new and expanded ASEAN menu, the Santan. This partnership not only includes dishes that celebrate the flavors of the region, but it also offers healthier and fresher options that you might not normally have on an airline menu.
This "concept is both good for the heart and nourishing for the soul. We are promoting healthy eating and helping Filipino farmers at the same time," said AirAsia Philippines CEO Captain Dexter Comendador.
Among these new dishes is the Korean Beef Stew with Kimchi Fried Rice (P170), a flavorful saucy stew with the sweet and salty combo that's strewn with bamboo shoots, and the Chicken Teriyaki (P170), a Japanese meal that features chicken marinated in a sweet-sesame-soy glaze and paired with an omelet, shiitake mushroom, carrots, and steamed rice.
Also new on the menu is the vegetarian bowl (P150). Made hearty by the chopped spinach, fried tofu squares, slivers of carrots, slices of wood ear mushrooms, and sauteed enoki mushrooms, it's the peanut sauce that makes it special and flavorful.
AirAsia also now offers a delicious specialty beverage, the Sunset Bursts. It's a color-changing drink made of strawberry and lychee juices with nata de coco (coconut jelly) chunks. Stir it to see the blue and red liquids merge into a lovely purple drink!
