These New Ube And Melon-Flavored Condensada Are What You Need To Make Easy Samalamig
Add this to your grocery cart ASAP!
There are limitless ways you can use condensed milk in the kitchen, which is why it's a staple in most households. But if you're in the mood to experiment, Alaska recently came out with new condensed milk flavors: Ube-licious Macapuno (P46) and the Milky Melon (P46).
These two new flavors have a robust, distinct flavor profile. The Ube-licious Macapuno has a strong, sweet artificial ube flavoring and it comes in a vibrant purple hue we all associate with ube. The Milky Melon, on the other hand, feels like a melted version of Dynamite, a nostalgic childhood candy.
If using flavored condensed milk for desserts like leche flan or ice cream seem like a huge step, you can ease your way in by making a simple, no-fuss samalamig: a refreshing sweet Filipino beverage that commonly includes gulaman, sago, and lots of ice.
All you need to do is to add 4 tablespoons of the Ube-licious Macapuno or the Milky Melon condensed milk in a glass and fill it with ice-cold water and add cubes of ice. If you have extra budget, it's more delicious if you add sago, gulaman, or buko strips if you're using the Ube-licious Macapuno, and melon strips for the Milky Melon.
You can also transfer the mixed beverage in ice candy plastic packets and freeze them overnight. With the current Manila humid weather, an ube macapuno or melon-flavored ice candy will surely hit the spot.
Alaska's Ube-licious Macapuno and Milky Melon are available in major supermarkets. Prices may vary.
