Iloilo’s Famous Creamhorns Are Now Available In Manila!

They have ube and pandan-flavored creamhorns!

Batchoy, Pancit Molo, and Biscocho-these are the different dishes and delicacies one should always experience when in Iloilo City. One of the delicacies that is probably missing on your list is Jaro, Iloilo's famous creamhorns, which are puff pastry cones with sweet custard cream inside! Sounds delicious, right?

Good news! You don't have to squeeze in a trip to Iloilo if you want to give this sweet, crunchy, and creamy delicacy a try. Jan Ocampo Vicente, the daughter of Alfonso "Alfie" Vicente who came up with the original recipe back in 1984, has opened Alfonso's House Of Creamhorns in Metro Manila to make her father's dream come true. According to Lei Gervacio, the manager of Alfonso's House Of Creamhorns, "It was Jan's dad's dream to bring creamhorns to Manila, that's why Jan decided to give up her career in the corporate world to start the creamhorn business."

The original creamhorns from Iloilo and the ones sold in Alfonso's House Of Creamhorns have a custard filling inside a  crunchy and puffy cone pastry. It's a simple pastry that is addicting at first bite. Jan and Lei also decided to expand the flavors to well-loved Filipino flavors such as ube and buko pandan-flavored creamhorns. Lei adds, "Some clients asked if we have different flavors aside from custard, kaya we tried ube and buko pandan."

We found that it is easier to eat creamhorns like how you would eat an ice cream cone. This is so the custard filling won't fall out of the cone. This pastry's sweet and milky flavors are best paired with a mug of freshly brewed coffee.

If you're interested to try all the flavors, Alfonso's House of Creamhorns offers an assortment of the original, ube, and buko pandan creamhorns for P350/box of 10 pieces. You can even customize the combination depending on how many ube, buko pandan, or original-flavored creamhorns you want. Did we mention that Alfonso's House of Creamhorns offers napoleones, too?
