We Survived Eating Spicy Fried Food at #AlwaysG Food Fest
Last October 25, Yummy.ph and Gaviscon held the #AlwaysG Food Fest at The Loft at Manansala. Members of the media and influencers got to enjoy all sorts of sweat-inducing spicy food, deep-fried delicious eats, and intoxicating drinks.
It was a food fest for adventurous food lovers, whose insatiable palates can sometimes lead to indigestion and heartburn! This celebration of food you'd otherwise hesitate to eat all in one sitting showcased the double-acting effects of antacids like Gaviscon.
Here are the food stations at the #AlwaysG Food Fest:
The Fiery Station - Ray's Hot Wings
During the event, there were three stations. The first was the Fiery station for all the spicy food. Ray's Hot Wings served Chicken Sandwiches, Hot Wings, and Mac and Cheese. The chicken sandwich was a spicy bite, but it was balanced by the juiciness of the chicken and the toasted brioche buns.
Meanwhile, event-goers were able to customize the spice level of their Hot Wings, and wherever your preference lands on the Scoville scale, you're sure to enjoy the crispy skin that gives way to the flavorful and juicy meat. We enjoyed this with the creamy Mac and Cheese, which helped temper the spiciness despite it being packed with mildly spiced and sharp cheesy flavors.
The Fried and Fatty Station - Sarsa by Chef JP Anglo
At the Fried and Fatty station, Sarsa by Chef JP Anglo was present to serve their famous Chicken Isaw, Beef Belly Kaldereta, and the 3-Way Pork Sisig. These all-time favorite Filipino dishes were served with a heaping scoop of garlic fried rice.

The Chicken Isaw was a crowd favorite; grilled fresh and coated with chicken oil, this street food staple was bursting with earthy chicken flavor. Each skewer was packed with the well-seasoned and toasted-on-the-grill-perfection coils of chicken intestine, and it was difficult not to reach for another stick!

It was impossible not to enjoy the Beef Belly Kaldereta and 3-Way Pork Sisig, especially with the garlic fried rice. While the 3-Way Pork Sisig was a party of textures with the chewy but soft pork maskara and the crunchy pork bits, the beef chunks in the Beef Belly Kaldereta all but melted in your mouth, and each bite was a hearty one that carried the tomato-based sauce.Â

The Funky Station - Run Rabbit Run
Refreshments were available at the Funky station run by Run Rabbit Run. They served delicious cocktails like the Floppy Ears Cocktail, Watermelon Virgin Mojito, and the Halo-Halo Cocktail.

The Floppy Ears Cocktail is a strong but fruity gin-based drink that has a mix of citrusy and lychee flavors. This colorful cocktail was refreshing, but those who preferred a non-alcoholic drink, the Watermelon Virgin Mojito was also a great option! This watermelon-flavored mocktail is reminiscent of a refreshing cooler you could just imagine having on a beach. Meanwhile, the Halo-halo Cocktail was the perfect mix for anyone who enjoys the Filipino iced dessert; plus, it's even topped with actual halo-halo ingredients like gulaman!
